OMRON HD-1500 Mobile Robot

OMRON Asia Pacific, a global leader in industrial automation solutions across Asia Pacific, has launched its new mobile robot called the HD-1500. The robot boasts of a heavy payload capacity of up to 1500kg and is the strongest and newest addition to the company’s portfolio of mobile robots. The need for autonomous material handling is becoming greater as more demanding tasks in industrial automation increase while companies face labour shortages along with challenges in implementing new social distancing requirements due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The HD-1500 comes off the heels of OMRON’s LD-250 mobile robot, which was launched globally in the fall of 2019.

OMRON’s mobile robots can automatically calculate the best route for material transportation while navigating safely around people and obstacles without the use of magnetic floor tapes or other guides. The new HD-1500 mobile robot has a 1500kg payload capacity which can be used to transport large automotive components, such as, car chassis and voluminous pallet size payloads – things that would have traditionally been moved using forklifts.

First Robotic Integrated Controller by Omron

OMRON Asia Pacific, a global leader in industrial automation solutions across Asia Pacific, has announced the launch of the world’s first ‘Robotics Integrated Controller’. It perfectly synchronizes automation technology so customers can improve the speed and accuracy of their production, simulate entire production equipment without having to deploy physical equipment, simplify maintenance, and reduce time-to-market during the design, planning, commissioning, and changeover processes. With this, OMRON is now able to provide a highly automated manufacturing site which does not require over-dependency on human resources due to the COVID-19 circumstances.

At the heart of the new platform is a new machine controller, which offers real-time synchronization between all automation equipment, including robots, vision components, drives, and safety equipment. The new NJ501-R controller is based on OMRON’s industry leading NJ series of machine controllers for industrial automation. By using the ‘Robotic Integrated Controller’, it has become possible to automate advanced and complex manual work that had been previously completed by human workers. Also, users may now simulate the design and modification of production facilities in a virtual environment, establish equipment, and conduct maintenance remotely.
