Fortinet unveils Forbes Insights Report

Fortinet a broad, integrated and automated cyber security solutions provider unveiled a new report by Forbes Insights titled “Making Tough Choices: How CISOs Manage Escalating Threats and Limited Resources.” The global survey is based on a poll by CISOs across various industries about the biggest challenges they’re facing and strategies they’re putting in place to address these obstacles.

CISOs believe that cyber-attack will increase drastically and hence it will be difficult to defend their organization. Due to lack of sufficient budget and skilled professionals compounded with threat attack the issue has become more serious in nature. “Fortinet is providing end-to-end security solutions so that CISOs can easily navigate whatever cyber threat comes in their path, “ said Rajesh Maurya, Regional Vice President india & SAARC at Fortinet.

CISOs are increasingly implementing the modern technologies to counter attack cyber threat. Forty eight percent of security leaders have shifted their focus on seamlessly integrating security into their network operation. Another forty five percent are shifting and changing cyber security strategy to align with advanced analytics for greater visibility into their work environments.

Responding to cyber threats and quick response CISOs would like to allocate more of their budget to tackle this issue. Security leaders are currently allocating  an average of 36% of their budgets for security solutions. As per survey, in future this budget is more likely to increase to 40% as well.

Cyber security training to educate employees is also a key factor. The survey of Forbes Insight found that training of employees has had a significant impact on their organizations. Therefore, CISOs are paying more attention on best practices and building cyber security awareness in order to reduce and prevent internal threats. Since threats are constantly expanding, CISOs find their resources including budgets are very limited compared to the cyber threats. The survey report highlighted that inadequate budget having a significant impact on their cyber security program.

Safeguarding of customers data, intellectual property and protecting their organization’s brand is a top most priority for CISOs. More than 36 percent of CISOs selected customer data as the highest priority for protection. A majority of respondents also shared that they are focusing on protecting intellectual property as this is one of the most important assets in their care, which they believe is another core target of most malicious actors.
